[SOLVED] Unable To Export Feeds

Hi all,

I am trying to move from RSS Guard to RSS Guard Lite as my computer is old and slow. I am unable to export my current feeds as I do not know how to set up a destination file. I have tried to export the feeds a number of times to no avail.

If you're using the Flatpak package, try exporting your feeds to the Downloads folder.

That's the only folder RSS Guard has unrestricted and direct write access to.

When I try to export the file. It cannot find it in the folder where it supposed to be. I have even tried searching all the folders but the file never shows. Also I noticed from your video that I do not a tick next to the button that says select file at six seconds.

That shouldn't really matter I think, but it wouldn't hurt if you did...

If that doesn't work, try exporting to the Downloads folder like I suggested as well.

Thank you, your advice worked perfectly. I think the problem was that I was not exporting to the downloads folder. Once again, thank you.

But just to expand a little bit more on this topic (to whoever's interested):

RSS Guard as a Flatpak has very restricted access to most files in your computer - in the name of security. The only exception to this rule, is the Downloads folder.

This restriction isn't usually a problem, though, because of a mechanism called XDG Desktop portals.

These portals basically provide you (the user) a secure way of allowing sandboxed Flatpak apps to read and write files on your computer, but only specific files you (the user) allow.

However, sometimes there could be subtle bugs in how this app<->portal interaction happens, which I think is what's probably happening here...
