Building with stonesense help?

Hi, I'm looking for help building dfhack with stonesense. I have cloned the repo, checked out the version I want that matches my version of Dwarf Fortress, and I can even successfully build dfhack and run it, but when I issue the command load stonesense I get the response Plugin does not exist: stonesense

OS, version, architecture are Linux Mint 21.3 x86_64
Dwarf Fortress version is 0.47.05
dfhack version is 0.47.05-r8

Asking here so my dumb questions don't clutter the issues section

stonesense is only built if you enable it with -DBUILD_STONESENSE=1 which is not the default.

Ok I'm getting a different problem now: that's progress!
I'm now getting ninja: error: '../plugins/stonesense/allegro/linux64/lib/liballegro.so.5.0', needed by 'plugins/stonesense/stonesense.plug.so', missing and no known rule to make it. the file in that directory is liballegro.so.5.0.10 and it seems confused. I'll see how far I get myself first.

it sounds like a missing symlink. my directory looks like this:

or if you configure with ccmake .. from the build directory, you can enable BUILD_STONESENSE in the list there
